Virginia employers with five or more employees are required by law to include this statement in their handbook to educate employees about the availability of reasonable accommodations for pregnancy, childbirth and related medical conditions and to comply with a handbook policy requirement.
Virginia employers seeking to emphasize compliance with, and educate their workforces about this law, should consider including this model policy statement in their handbook.
As mandated by the Virginia Office of the Attorney General, Office of Civil Rights, covered employers must post the Virginia Pregnancy Discrimination Information Sheet.
