How to Implement a Safety Program
Author: Jennifer Brantley
Having a safety program in place is imperative to an employer's overall success. Employees who feel they work in a safe environment, which is provided and encouraged by their management team, are less likely to take sick days and leaves of absences. They are also likely to be happier and more productive while on the clock. The safety program also benefits employees by cutting the number of injuries and illnesses and reducing workers' compensation claims. Illnesses and injuries can cost businesses hundreds of thousands of dollars each year by causing loss of work hours and even drawn out legal issues between employers and employees. A safe work environment, kept in check by a safety program, helps employers avoid some of these costs.
