How to Make Sure Employees Drive Safely While Working
Author: Jennifer Brantley
Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act, employers are responsible for providing employees with a safe workplace. If driving a vehicle is a required part of the employee's job, then the vehicle is considered part of the workplace. Employers need to ensure that such employees have limited distractions while driving and are as safe as possible at all times. Vehicle-related accidents are some of the more dangerous accidents and can result in many employee fatalities. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is keenly aware of the serious nature of these occurrences and, therefore, is likely to find violations very quickly when an employee's driving or driving habits are deemed unsafe and the employer's actions seem to contribute to this behavior.
