When to Use

Many issues must be addressed when managing and implementing an employee compensation system. Below is a high-level list identifying the common matters an employer should contemplate. Effective compensation systems come about through the involvement of HR professionals; managers and supervisors; and company leadership. Employers do not have to complete the following steps in sequential order to properly complete the checklist; however, it is important to first consider the desired outcomes of an effective compensation system as the guide for completing the checklist.
