Summary
- Discrimination in recruitment and selection is prohibited on grounds including sex, religion or belief, disability and age. (See Discrimination)
- Employers must notify the public Employment Development Agency about all vacancies, at least three working days before advertising them by any other means. (See Advertising vacancies)
- Employers must observe various rules when selecting employees, for example in terms of non-discrimination, data protection and pre-employment medical examinations. (See Selection)
- The acceptance by a job applicant of an unconditional written job offer made by an employer may give rise to a legally binding employment contract. (See Job offers)
- Children under the age of 15 are generally prohibited from working, while the employment of adolescents aged 15 to 17 is subject to various restrictions and protections. (See Young people and children)
- The employment of individuals who are not European Economic Area or Swiss nationals is subject to various permits and authorisations. (See Foreign nationals)
