Illinois Amends the Health Care Violence Prevention Act
Implementation Date: January 1, 2027
Effective January 1, 2027, Illinois amends the Health Care Violence Prevention Act (HCVPA) to add a workplace violence prevention program requirement and prohibit health care providers from limiting the type of workplace violence about which a health care worker may contact law enforcement or file a report with law enforcement or the Illinois Department of Public Health.
The amendments also require new recordkeeping and reporting requirements related to logging type 2 violent incidents, which have later implementation dates.
