Introduction

People analytics refers to the process of collecting, analyzing and using quantitative and qualitative data about an organization's employees, alongside business performance data, to provide insights on business issues, solve business problems and inform business decisions and strategy. People data can include any information relating to employees or workforce management, such as recruitment costs and absence rates or the results of employee opinion surveys and individual performance reviews. An employer must understand how to best collect and analyze its people data.

This guide discusses what people analytics is and its benefits; how HR should approach people analytics, including in relation to upskilling team members and gaining the support of senior leaders; and the people analytics process, from choosing metrics and collecting data, to analyzing the data and communicating the results.
