Summary
- Minnesota requires employers to file returns either annually or quarterly. The withholding and filing due dates and deposit schedules are based on each employer's federal deposit schedule. Returns must be filed electronically. See Deposit Thresholds and Schedules; Deposit and Filing Due Dates.
- Certain employers are required to make deposits by electronic funds transfer (EFT). Penalties are imposed for noncompliance. See Electronic Deposit Requirements.
- All employers are required to submit copies of Forms W-2 to the state Department of Revenue annually. See Form W-2 Filing Requirements.
