Overtime: Florida
Federal law and guidance on this subject should be reviewed together with this section.

Summary
- Florida has no state-specific overtime laws of its own, and almost exclusively follows the overtime compensation laws set forth by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) for private employees. The only deviation from the FLSA with regard to overtime laws relates to manual laborers and how many hours constitute a work day for purposes of overtime pay. See Overview.
- Public employees may opt to receive time off from work instead of overtime pay. See Compensatory Time.
