COBRA (Health Care Continuation) Policy

When to Use

The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) generally applies to group health plans maintained by employers that have at least 20 employees on more than 50 percent of typical business days in the previous calendar year. Covered employers may use this policy to help employees understand their right to continue group health coverage when coverage would otherwise end due to a qualifying event. An employer may wish to include this in an employee handbook or their benefits guide.
