Summary
- There are various types of leave that may be available to an employee in Alabama. See Leaves of Absence.
- Alabama does not have a general state family and medical leave law applicable to private employers. See Family and Medical Leave.
- Alabama requires covered employers to provide unpaid family leave to eligible employees for the birth or adoption of a child. See Leave for Childbirth and Adoption.
- An employee may take unpaid leave to respond to a subpoena to testify or to participate in the reasonable preparation of a criminal proceeding. See Crime Victim Leave.
- An Alabama employer must allow an employee to take leave from work to serve as a juror, as long as the employee provides proper notice. See Jury Duty Leave.
