Summary
- There are various types of leave that may be available to an employee in New Jersey. See Leaves of Absence.
- Employees may be eligible for leave to bond with a new child or to care for a sick family member. Paid family leave benefits are also available under certain circumstances. See Family and Medical Leave.
- An eligible employee is entitled to earned sick and safe time. See Paid Sick Leave.
- Employees may be entitled to leave if they are a victim of domestic violence or sexual assault, or if their family member is a victim. See Domestic Violence Leave.
- A covered employer must provide an eligible employee with organ or bone marrow donation leave and is eligible for a tax credit if it provides paid leave. See Bone Marrow and Organ Donor Leave.
- Employees who left their jobs to perform military service must be restored to their position or a similar position. See Military Leave.
- It is unlawful to terminate an employee who fails to report because of volunteer emergency responder service during a state of emergency declared by the US President or the Governor. See Emergency Responder Leave.
- All employers must provide jury duty leave to employees. See Jury Duty Leave.
- Time off to vote is not required. See Voting Leave.
