Prepare for a Worksite Immigration Raid Checklist
Author: Brightmine Editorial Team
When to Use
US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) may visit a workplace to conduct a worksite enforcement action, commonly known as a raid. ICE raids aim to detain undocumented employees working for employers in the United States, and ICE agents may have a list of names of workers they are looking to detain or, alternatively, they may be targeting particular industries known to have a high volume of undocumented employees.
Because an ICE raid is unannounced and can cause significant business disruptions and legal consequences, it can be a stressful and confusing experience. An employer can use this checklist to prepare for a worksite raid and ensure that it has a measured, compliant response if ICE comes knocking. The procedure is generally sequential, but some steps may be completed concurrently.
