Summary
- Washington has a federally approved State Plan governing the safety and health of workers, and it has created safety standards that are more protective than federal standards. See Washington Safety and Health.
- An employer may not refuse to make a reasonable safety accommodation requested by an individual who is a victim of domestic violence, sexual assault or stalking, with certain exceptions. See Safety Accommodations Under the Domestic Violence Leave Act Amendments.
- Washington has several laws that restrict cell phone usage while operating a motor vehicle. It does not have specific civil rights laws that limits or prohibits drug testing in the workplace. See Safety Management.
