Pay Transparency Policy

Author: Brightmine Editorial Team

When to Use

A number of states and localities have adopted pay transparency laws. These laws generally require employers to disclose pay range information to job applicants and/or employees. Requirements vary by jurisdiction, but may include:

  • Listing a pay range in internal and external job postings;
  • Providing pay range to applicants during the hiring process; or
  • Sharing the pay range for an employee's current role upon hire or promotion, upon request or annually.

An employer that intends to adopt pay transparency measures should consider implementing this policy to inform applicants and employees of their rights under any applicable pay transparency laws, communicate the organization's stance on pay transparency, and outline how pay information will be shared.
