Professional Development Policy
Author: Carl I. Greenberg, Pragmatic HR Consulting
When to Use
Having a professional development or career planning policy in place indicates that an employer is committed to the long-term investment of its employees, encourages employee development and facilitates internal promotions.
This policy is not required by law. However, an employer should use this policy to communicate the organization's commitment to professional growth and offer details related to its professional development process, including the creation of individual development plans.
