After a job offer has been accepted by the candidate, the employer should provide the new hire with information, including where the new hire should go, whom to meet and what to expect on the first day of work.
In order to prepare for the first day, the employer should have all of the requisite new hire paperwork ready for the new employee to complete, obtain any supplies or equipment he or she may need, set up the new employee's work station and coordinate with the new employee's supervisor about the responsibilities the individual is expected to perform.
Before the new employee begins work, the employer should create an orientation checklist to ensure all tasks are completed on the new hire's first day.
