  • There are various types of leave that may be available to an employee in Kansas. See Leaves of Absence.
  • Kansas does not have a state family and medical leave law applicable to private employers. See Family and Medical Leave.
  • Kansas law does not requires private employers to provide employees with sick leave, vacation or holiday time. See Sick Leave and Vacation or Holiday Time;
  • Kansas employees who are victims of domestic violence or sexual assault are entitled to leave to, among other things, get services from a domestic violence shelter. See Domestic Violence Leave.
  • An employee is entitled to unpaid leave for absences related to jury service. See Jury Duty Leave.
  • Any person who is entitled to vote at an election conducted by a county election official in Kansas is entitled to a leave of absence from work for a period not to exceed two consecutive hours between the hours that the polls open and close on election day. See Voting Leave.
  • An employer must provide an unpaid leave to any employee who is a member of the Kansas National Guard to attend drills and other activities. See Military Leave.
  • An employer may not terminate an employee who performs duties as a volunteer firefighter. See Emergency Responder Leave.
