Summary
- Vermont's overtime and minimum wage exemptions are similar to those of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) in many respects. There are some important distinctions, however, that require special attention.
- Some employees are exempt from Vermont's minimum wage and overtime requirements. See Minimum Wage and Overtime Exemptions.
- Other employees are exempt only from Vermont's overtime requirements, not its minimum wage requirements. See Overtime-Only Exemptions.
- Where Vermont's requirements are different than the requirements under the FLSA or other federal laws, employers must comply with the requirements that most favor their employees.
