Allergies and Sensitivities in the Workplace Policy
Author: Diane Thorson
When to Use
Many employees may have allergies to certain foods, chemicals, pests or insects, dust, environmental allergens such as pollen and mold, and more. Allergies can range from mild to life-threatening. In addition, individuals can have sensitivities to various fragrances and other substances that may cause headaches and other symptoms. In some situations, an allergy may rise to the level of a disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and/or related state and local laws.
An employer should consider implementing this policy to communicate to employees its approach to handling allergy and fragrance sensitivity issues in the workplace.
