Anti-Bribery Policy
Author: Theresa Rogers
When to Use
Certain activities, such as providing gifts, contributions, entertainment, travel or payments may violate anti-bribery laws in the US and around the world. Any employee can be guilty of violating a bribery policy. An act can be considered bribery whether the recipient is a government official, third-party business partner, joint-venture partner or any employee regardless of position.
An employer should consider implementing this policy as a matter of best practice to inform and warn employees about bribery or the appearance of bribery, that acts of bribery may be illegal and are prohibited by the employer and the consequences of engaging in bribery in the course of their employment. Implementing this policy will also help discourage possible violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and the International Anti-Bribery and Fair Competition Act by employees working internationally.
