When to Use
The Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 (USERRA) is a federal law that applies to all public and private employers, regardless of their size or location. USERRA provides detailed leave, reinstatement and nondiscrimination rights to members of the uniformed services.
An employer should consider implementing this policy to educate employees about the right to take leave to serve in the military and to demonstrate its compliance with USERRA.
