When an employee resigns, retires or otherwise leaves the organization, conduct an exit interview in order to collect valuable information regarding that employee's experience in the workplace.
Exit interviews should cover many facets of the workplace experience including the effectiveness of company leadership hierarchies, company waste or inefficiency, and legal or regulatory compliance.
Take time to explain the exit interview process and procedure to departing employees. If departing employees are unwilling to participate in a face-to-face interview, employers may consider providing written questionnaires to them.
