Pregnancy Accommodations: 50-State Chart Renamed and Reorganized

Author: Brightmine Editorial Team

At HR & Compliance Center, we continually improve our tools and resources to meet the needs of HR professionals and enhance the HR & Compliance Center user experience. Over the last several years, a number of states and municipalities have expanded their respective pregnancy discrimination laws by requiring employers to provide reasonable accommodations for pregnancy, childbirth and related medical conditions. To help employers comply with these state and local pregnancy accommodation laws, HR & Compliance Center has renamed the Pregnancy Discrimination and Accommodation Laws by State 50-State Chart to Pregnancy Accommodation Laws by State and Municipality and made the following changes:

  • Limited the chart's focus to pregnancy accommodation laws; and
  • Enhanced the chart with key municipal coverage.

The chart continues to provide information on employer coverage, examples of accommodations and notice requirements, as well as links to relevant employee handbook statements HR & Compliance Center has in its Employee Handbooks tool. Further, information regarding pregnancy discrimination laws is still located in the EEO Protected Classes by State and Municipality 50-State Chart.
