Federal law and guidance on this subject should be reviewed together with this section.

Summary
- Oregon's minimum wage and overtime exemptions are similar to those of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) in many respects. However, there are several important differences that require special attention. Where Oregon's requirements diverge from those of the federal government, employers must comply with the requirements that favor their employees. See Minimum Wage and Overtime Exemptions.
- Many employees who are exempt from federal overtime requirements are also expressly exempt from Oregon's overtime requirements, but not its minimum wage requirements. See Overtime-Only Exemptions.
- Localities including Multnomah County, Portland and Washington County have requirements pertaining to employee classification. See Local Requirements.
