Summary

  • Employers in Georgia must excuse employees from work to serve on a jury, give testimony under a subpoena or attend a judicial proceeding by order of the court. See Employers Obligated to Provide Leave.
  • Jury duty leave does not apply to an employee charged with a crime. See Employees Qualified for Leave.
  • Employers are required to pay an employee his or her salary for the time spent on jury duty. See Compensation During Leave.
  • Georgia law protects an employee's job when the employee serves on a jury. Employers cannot terminate, demote, lay off, penalize, threaten or coerce an employee because of an employee's jury duty leave. See Prohibited Actions.
