Utah Reenacts Military Leave Law
Implementation Date: March 18, 2024
Effective March 18, 2024, a new Utah military leave law requires employers to provide military reservists with a leave of absence of up to five years and reinstatement upon return from leave.
The state's previous military leave law, repealed in May 2023, gave leave and reinstatement rights to members of the reserve components of the United States armed forces. The current law extends the same rights and protections the federal military service has under federal law to members of the Utah National Guard or the State Defense Force if ordered to state military service, for up to five years.
