When to Use
Key decision makers need to understand the business case for investing in succession planning prior to undertaking such an endeavor. HR can provide that information by creating a model succession plan. A model succession plan documents a proposed succession planning process for senior management (particularly the CEO and other C-suite leaders) and, where relevant, Board of Director approval.
Using a succession planning process form enables an employer to better understand the potential benefits of implementing a comprehensive succession planning process, and provides useful input that may ultimately help an employer determine whether to implement a succession plan (a "go - no go" decision).
This model succession plan form provides a template to document important factors in the succession planning process. It is organized into several sections, each of which is designed to help HR educate the CEO and other decision makers about different aspects of the proposed process.
