Summary
- There is very limited case law in Kansas interpreting the regulations regarding "hours worked." However, when the state regulation and federal regulation are substantially similar, Kansas courts will look to federal cases for guidance. See Hours Worked.
- Meal and rest periods of less than 30 minutes are usually compensable hours worked. See Break Periods.
- On-call time counts as hours worked under certain circumstances. See On-Call Time.
- There are several other working time issues of which Kansas employers should be aware. See Travel Time, Training, Lectures and Meetings, Sleeping, Show-Up Time / Reporting Time and Miscellaneous Working Time Issues.
