Summary

• The North Dakota Department of Labor and the Courts are responsible for enforcing the labor and employment laws found in Chapter 34 of the North Dakota Century Code and the North Dakota Human Rights Act at Chapter 14-02.4. See State Policy Against Employment Discrimination.
• Practically, every employer is covered, even those with only one employee. See State Policy Against Employment Discrimination.
• Retaliation is a discriminatory practice. See Retaliation Prohibited.
• Employers are also prohibited from retaliating against individuals who file a complaint under the North Dakota Equal Pay Act. See Retaliation Under the North Dakota Equal Pay Act.
