Summary

  • Employers are prohibited from retaliating against individuals pursuant to the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act and other state laws. See Prohibition Against Retaliation.
  • To prove a retaliation claim, an employee must show that he or she engaged in protected activity or opposed unlawful conduct, the employer was aware of the protected activity, the employee suffered an adverse employment action, and the existence of a causal connection between the protected activity and the adverse employment action.
