When to Use
Workplace bullying and harassment can have a detrimental effect on the workplace by harming employee productivity; increasing the likelihood of lawsuits; undermining employee morale; increasing the likelihood of workplace violence and hostility; and damaging trust in the employer, supervisors and co-workers. Bullying can also increase the employer's health care costs and workers' compensation claims.
To avoid these outcomes and foster an environment where all employees feel safe and respected at work, employers should consider implementing this policy to prevent and respond to bullying and harassment. A Bullying Policy puts employees on notice that bullying, abusive and offensive conduct is not permitted and will have serious consequences.
