Elections Issues: Are Employees in Your State Entitled to Voting Leave?

Employers should think twice before disciplining employees on Election Day. Tracking employee attendance and combatting absenteeism continue to be serious business and productivity concerns. However, in states with voting leave laws, employers may be required to allow employees time off to go to the polls.
Public employers should note that, in some states, their employees may be entitled to additional leaves, such as leave when running for office.
