Texas to Extend Sexual Harassment Protections to Unpaid Interns: Employment Law Manual Updated, Legal Timetable Entry Added
Author: Brightmine Editorial Team
Under a new Texas law, effective September 1, 2015, sexual harassment of an unpaid intern will be considered an unlawful employment practice if the employer or its agents or supervisor knew or should have known that the harassment occurred and failed to take immediate and appropriate corrective action.
Based on this development, the following Texas sections of the Employment Law Manual have been updated:
- EEO-Discrimination;
- EEO-Harassment;
- Terms of Employment;
- Employee Discipline; and
- Performance Appraisals.
The EEO Protected Classes by State and Municipality chart has also been updated, and an entry has been added to the Legal Timetable.
