Infectious Disease Policy
Author: David Galt
When to Use
An employer should consider implementing this infectious disease policy to communicate its commitment to providing a safe and healthy work environment for employees, vendors and the public and to maintaining essential functions and services in the event of a declared infectious disease outbreak or pandemic. When a public health agency declares a disease outbreak or pandemic, the disease may be considered a recognized workplace hazard. This recommended policy includes safe work practices to help employers comply with the federal Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSH Act), which requires employers to provide a workplace that is free from recognized hazards under applicable federal laws.
