Posting Requirements Added in Several States: Various Tools Updated

Posting requirements vary by statute and by the states and municipalities where an employer does business. As a result of the last legislative session, a number of additional workplace postings will be necessary for employers operating in certain states to remain compliant.
These additional postings relate to the following laws:
- California state and municipal paid sick leave laws. California has passed a law that allows employees to earn paid sick leave. In addition, San Diego has passed its own paid sick leave ordinance. Both laws contain notice posting requirements, and government-issued model notices will be made available to employers. The Employee Communications: California section of the Employment Law Manual has been updated accordingly.
- Delaware Pregnant Workers Fairness Act. As a result of the passage of the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, which specifically protects the rights of pregnant workers, Delaware employers must provide notice to employees of their rights in the form of a workplace poster. The state's labor department will provide a model notice. Accordingly, the Employee Communications: Delaware section of the Employment Law Manual has been updated.
- District of Columbia Accrued Sick and Safe Leave Act Amendments. The District of Columbia amended its Accrued Sick and Safe Leave Act (ASSLA) through its passage of the Earned Sick and Safe Leave Amendment Act (ESSLA). Accordingly, the updated version of the District of Columbia Accrued Sick and Safe Leave Act Poster has been added. In addition, the corresponding content in the Employee Communications: District of Columbia section of the Employment Law Manual and the District of Columbia Workplace Labor and Employment Law Posters - Chart has been updated.
- Illinois pregnancy accommodations law. Illinois has passed a law that enhances employees' rights to pregnancy accommodations in the workplace. The law contains notice posting requirements. As a result, the Illinois Pregnancy Fairness Poster has been added. In addition, the corresponding content in the Employee Communications: Illinois section of the Employment Law Manual and the Illinois Workplace Labor and Employment Law Posters - Chart has been updated.
- New Jersey paid sick leave ordinances. A number of New Jersey municipalities have enacted paid sick leave ordinances that include notice-posting requirements. Accordingly, and in anticipation of the issuance of model notices, the City of Passaic, NJ, Paid Sick Leave Poster, the City of East Orange, NJ, Paid Sick Leave Poster and the City of Paterson, NJ, Paid Sick Leave Poster have been added. In addition, the corresponding content in the Employee Communications: New Jersey and Employee Discipline: New Jersey sections of the Employment Law Manual and the New Jersey Workplace Labor and Employment Law Posters - Chart has been updated.
