Vermont Requirements Complete
XpertHR is on track to have all 50 states and the District of Columbia by the end of July. We are completing states on a rolling basis until then and are now up to 30 "states" with the completion of Vermont this week.
Our Vermont Employment Law Coverage
XpertHR covers the complete spectrum of labor and employment law for Vermont employers. For example, did you know:
- Vermont's Fair Employment Practices Act applies to all employers, regardless of size, and therefore covers small employers that might not be covered by federal employment laws.
- Vermont courts will enforce noncompetition and nonsolicitation agreements, so long as they are drafted to protect legitimate business interests, and are reasonable in scope and duration.
- Although Vermont has a medical marijuana law, employees are not exempt from arrest and prosecution for using or being under the influence of marijuana on the job, even for therapeutic purposes.
- Employees may voluntarily assign their future wages with their employers' written consent. Unlike a garnishment order, which is required to be honored by law, an employer has no obligation to honor a wage assignment. If an employer agrees to honor an assignment, it may not withhold more than 10 percent of the employee's compensation.
This is but a taste of the depth and breadth provided to our Vermont subscribers!
