The update is prompted by an amendment, effective January 1, 2026, that expands organ donor leave eligibility to include part-time employees. This resource will assist covered employers in educating employees about the availability of paid leave to donate an organ and in demonstrating compliance with the Employee Blood and Organ Donation Leave Act, which is amended to expand organ donor leave eligibility to part-time employees, effective January 1, 2026. Organ donor leave had previously been addressed in the Blood and Organ Donor Leave Handbook Statement: Illinois.
